I have two dogs. Benson is a 5 yr old chocolate lab. We have had him since he was 9mths old He loves everyone and everything- a very high energy dog but so loveable. Also have Phoebe who is a 3 yr old springer. Had her from a puppy. She is very happy as long as she has a tennis ball although prefers to chase them rather than collect from flyball box. Both dogs are members of delta flyball team and are looking forward to lots more rosettes this year.

Just off to do some serious obedience training – but the dogs may not agree!
Did it work
)It’s an on-going thing, Graham. I go to obedience training most weeks but hadn’t done much with them over Xmas and New Year. Being Collies (of a sort!!) they need the brain work!
Still doing the training?
Yes, we go nearly every week and I do a bit with them every day – maybe only 10 minutes but it keeps them up to scratch. That’s the idea anyway!! (we do obediance comps as well as flyball – just for fun)

Where should I start. I look after 27 field trial dogs for the company and work them in Scotland, England, Wales and the USA. We work very closely with Ben Randall who is 2011 national cocker champion and I work Cockers, Springers, Clumbers, Labs and flatcoats but do have kennel hands to help. I just get the good bits.
But in the summer I now have the flyball and agility circuit to look after which I also enjoy but only watching. -

I have two dogs, a 7-year old collie cross bitch, Twiglet, and a Bitser (collie, kelpie, whippet??) called Douglas who is 3 and a total lunatic. They’re both rescue dogs (from Ireland) which is why I don’t know the exact breeding! Douglas adores flyball and chasing anything that’s moving, Twiglet likes flyball and seemd to enjoy agility the very little of it we did, till some wretched instructor pulled her off the seesaw when he was trying to teach her how to do it.

Toph, I love your dog descriptions. I’m curious about what you say about the ”mean streets of Ireland”. I think of Ireland as being so bad – can you elaborate? I go my dog ( a chow chow mix) on the streets of Mexico – and they definitely are MEAN! He’s such a lover though. Funny thing is – he has absolutely no instinct to retrieve but he likes to play soccer (football for you Brits) with his feet! I guess country of origin does make a difference.

I have 3 dogs in my family. Kaia (from Greek meaning ”pure”) – she is a 3 year old flatcoat retriever and lives up to her name, retrieving anything possible. Her favourite thing to place on my lap is a stone or a pine needle! She has been known to bring money too, the record being a £10 note!! Then there is Maddie, my Australian Kelpie – never has a dog been so well named as she is certifiably bonkers! But a fantastic dog. Super intelligent (sometimes too much so!) and always willing to please. I thought that was where it might stop but I saw my last dog on a rescue site and instantly fell in love with him. Thor is a Lurcher (collie x whippet we believe) who grew up on the mean streets of Ireland! The only person who showed any interest in him in 5 months asked if he would be OK running free with chickens! (a lurcher with chickens?). He immediately settled and loves his tennis ball. All 3 of them are flyball dogs and can’t get enough of it. If you are interested in Flyball, give us a shout!
